Little Red
by Sheila Ticen
I’ve had this little book for years and years. I’m not quite sure why I’ve kept it, except that it came to me as a gift. Well that, and it is a rather venerable little object. It was printed in 1927 and is titled A History of Painting. I guess I just like old books, even obsolete art history textbooks with tiny black-and-white illustrations. The weight of it in my hand… the feel and wear patterns of the cloth covered binding…the names of its previous owners written in black ink inside the front and back covers. Nice to be able to put it to use after all this time!
I love the clothespins too! Does anyone really use wooden clothespins anymore?!
I don’t know if anyone else uses them, but I have to keep some around. My wooden clothespins get drafted into all sorts of duties, from holding bags of chips closed to holding the frost protection cloth around our lemon tree. Once in a while they even hold something onto a clothesline!
